Surgical Coordinator / Scheduler

Genesiscare in collaboration with Ear, Nose & Throat Specialist is seeking a surgical coordinator in beautiful Fort Myers, FL.

The surgical coordinator is responsible for scheduling surgical procedures in the office, surgery center and hospitals. We currently have six physicians that generate surgery orders. Each surgical coordinator is assigned to one primary physician and assists the team when fellow surgical coordinators are off.

In all our treatment centers, the first point of verbal contact for our patients is the Surgical Coordinator. As first impressions are lasting, it is imperative that our personnel portray patience, understanding, professionalism, compassion and accuracy.

What you'll do:

• Schedule and co-ordinate surgery procedures between patient, physician and hospitals, surgery center and sinus center
• Extensive contact with Physicians, Patients, facilities and Insurance companies
• Communicating to patients' any and all pre-operative workup and testing
• Comprehend medical policies to see if patients meet criteria
• Obtain all authorizations for surgeries procedures, even if NPCN. We will do voluntary medical review.
• Maintain contact between both offices for the purpose of coordinating surgery assists if necessary
• Maintain Surgery Schedule in Computer so Physicians can access their surgery schedules

Who you are:

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• College graduate preferred. Work experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
• Foundational knowledge of medical insurance (understanding surgical benefits, reviewing medical policies, obtaining authorizations) is required.
• Medical system experience & MS Office experience preferred
• Five plus year(s) experience in a medical office setting required
• Understanding medical policies
• Understanding complexities of insurance plans
