Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

In a supportive K-12 educational environment located in Texico, NM, professionals will provide essential communication services. This role is vital in ensuring that deaf and hard-of-hearing students have equal access to educational opportunities and can fully participate in classroom activities.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Sign Language Interpreter with a minimum 4.0 EIPA score, including the written portion
  • Valid New Mexico Educator certification for interpreting in K-12 settings
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working with students in an educational environment, particularly in K-12
  • Ability to work collaboratively with educators, staff, and students

Location: Texico, NM

Responsibilities:

  • Provide interpretive services for students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to facilitate effective communication and support student learning
  • Attend and participate in IEP meetings and professional development as required
  • Maintain professional standards and stay updated on best practices in educational interpreting
