Safety Coordinator

Indiana Harbor Steel Mill

Pay: 22.00 Hourly

Days: Sun-Sat

Must be OSHA certified.

• Participates in the development and implementation of plant-wide safety programs such as defensive driving, lockout/tagout. confirm space entry,fire protection, and other OSHA safety compliance programs.
• instruction of weekly safety orientations needed and process paperwork.
• Instruction of weekly forklift and crane certifications and process paperwork
• Advises the ABM community regarding safety protocols and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Listens to and effectively communicates with ABM Team members and client representative to ensure the successful completion of assigned training.
• Participates in the development and implementation of department safety work order tracking and reporting.
• Conducts routine and follow-up safety and hazard inspections of plant facilities.
• Responds to emergency situation's: prepare reports of findings and submits recommendations.
• Analyzes accident and incident reports for trends makes recommendations for correcting unsafe conditions and actions.
• Leads and/or guides the work of supervision and employees.
• Preforms miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
• Prepares, maintains & submits requested forms, I.E, Facility Inspection Checklist, Monthly Reports, Scrubber Condition Checklist, and Scrubber Run Rpt.
• Maintains safety awareness and is responsible maintaining an acceptable safety record.
• Monitors SWOP, BBO and SSE Audits and report to Project Manager and Regional Safety Manager on a weekly basis
• Complete daily shift report to include employee and client engagement and submit to the ABM office.
• Attend the monthly Supervisor training at the ABM office or other designated location.
