Universal Language Service welcomes Interpreters to provide language services in Healthcare, Social Services, Legal, Technical, and other settings. Spoken Language Interpreter for Video, Over-the-Phone, or In-Person Services Location: Remote or On-Site Languages Needed: Over 200 languages in demand, including but not limited to Arabic, Bengali, Cantonese, Chinese (Mandarin), French, German, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swahili, Vietnamese, and more. If your target language is not listed, specify it in your application. Responsibilities Provide effective interpreting sessions in a professional manner. Maintain professional appearance and behavior, including punctuality and preparedness for sessions/interpreter services appointments. Adapt quickly to new and changing situations. Adhere to interpreter ethical standards and procedural requirements specific to interpreting context. Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environment. Show respect for LEP clients, their culture, dialect, beliefs, and preferences. Demonstrate strong customer service orientation and interpreting skills. Speak clearly in both languages using proper pronunciation and enunciation. Render exact meanings according to interpreter protocol. Qualifications Fluent in both source and target language with strong verbal communication skills (e.g., Target Language to English and vice versa). Excellent listening and retention skills to maintain high accuracy during interpretation. Successful completion of a proficiency assessment or national certification. Knowledge of Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice (DSHS LTC - WA, ATA, IMIA, NBCMI, NCIHC). Preferred Qualifications Ability to read and write in the requested languages. Degree or certifications in interpreting practices. National Medical or Social Interpreter Certification or qualification by DSHS LTC, CCHI, NBCMI, ATA, or OR Health Authority. 40-hour or equivalent accredited medical interpreting training (e.g., ALTA, MITS, Bridging the Gap, MiTio, Cross-Cultural training). Referrals for Training and Language Assessment / Certification / Qualification or Recognition for bilingual individuals. Over 200 languages are in demand.
