Hospice Business Office Manager

Location: San Diego, CA

Job Type: Full-Time, On-Site

Salary Range: $80,000 $92,000 per year (Depending on Experience)

Position Summary: The Hospice Business Office Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day administrative operations in a hospice setting. This role ensures smooth office functions, compliance with regulatory standards, accurate record-keeping, and efficient communication between departments. The position supports the organizations mission of providing compassionate end-of-life care.

Reports To: Executive Director

Supervises: Receptionist, Team Assistants, Medical Records Clerk

Key Responsibilities


  • Manage office budget, track expenses, and ensure financial documentation is complete
  • Maintain office supply inventory and coordinate equipment needs
  • Assist in payroll processing and audit employee timesheets and mileage logs
  • Onboard new hires and ensure completion of all employment documentation
  • Maintain accurate employee HR files, licenses, evaluations, and certifications
  • Ensure vendor contracts and required documentation are current and compliant
  • Process accounts payable invoices and secure necessary approvals
  • Act as central point of communication between office staff, clinical team, leadership, and patient families
  • Plan and coordinate staff events, team-building activities, and office celebrations
  • Perform additional administrative duties as assigned


Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelors Degree preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of office management experience in a healthcare or hospice setting
  • Knowledge of California HR policy preferred
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
  • Ability to problem-solve and think critically under pressure
  • Demonstrated empathy and professionalism when working with patients and families


Technical Skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with hospice-specific EMR systems preferred


Compensation And Benefits
  • Salary: $80,000 $92,000 per year, depending on experience
  • Full-time position with benefits eligibility (if applicable per company policy)
