Overview:

We’re seeking a seasoned and strategic Executive producer to lead production for a new Crime House original series designed for a YouTube-first audience and scaled across podcast platforms and social media.

This role is both an editorial lead and creative director—ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of news judgment, narrative flow, and show execution. You’ll manage the day-to-day production, guide on-air talent, collaborate across departments, and ensure the show delivers sharp, timely, and engaging content in every episode.

Essential Functions:

Production Leadership

  • Manage timelines, talent, and production crew to keep content moving on schedule
  • Comfortable in a fast paced environment

Editorial Oversight

  • Own the editorial calendar and show rundown process
  • Assign topics, approve scripts, and shape the voice and tone of each episode
  • Ensure accuracy, balance, and ethical standards in every story

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate with post-production to review edits, finalize assets, and ensure content quality
  • Liaise with social media and audience development teams to align strategy and messaging
  • Collaborate with creators, guests, and partners to elevate the show’s profile and impact

Creative Direction

  • Guide on-air hosts with segment flow, framing, and delivery
  • Shape recurring segments and show structure to evolve format
  • Pitch and lead creative specials, deep dives, and guest-driven features

Prerequisite Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 7+ years of experience in news, true crime, digital video, or podcast production
  • Strong editorial judgment and ability to lead a news-driven daily show
  • Proven ability to manage talent and guide on-air delivery and story structure
  • Expertise in rundown creation, show flow, and fast-turnaround content
  • Deep interest in true crime, criminal justice, and real-world storytelling
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Experience working with small, agile, multi-role teams
  • Familiarity with YouTube, podcast, and social media formats
  • Comfortable leading in a startup environment with evolving workflows

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Ability to work on-site in Los Angeles, in a fast-paced production studio
  • Comfortable working under tight deadlines and breaking news cycles
  • Capacity to manage sensitive, high-stakes, or traumatic subject matter
  • Flexibility for early mornings, evenings, or weekend coverage as needed
  • Ability to stand and sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds in a safe and prudent manner
  • Ability to work and communicate well with other employees, management, individuals well-known to the public, creators, and studios
  • Ability to perform work utilizing manual dexterity of the hands
  • Ability to reach above and below shoulders, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, climb, kneel, push and/or pull, and twist
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English

Benefits:

  • 100% employer-paid Medical, Dental, and Vision (employee-only coverage)
  • Competitive Paid Time Off
  • Floating Holiday Time
  • Paid Company Holidays
  • Sick Leave in accordance with California law
