The Critical Care Intensivist Physician at Allegheny Health Network provides comprehensive pre- and post-surgical critical care in a multidisciplinary ICU setting, managing acute and life-threatening conditions. The role involves performing key ICU procedures, collaborating with diverse healthcare teams, and contributing to teaching and research activities. The Allegheny Health Network (AHN) Surgery Institute is a Critical Care Physician to join our team serving West Penn Hospital in the Pittsburgh area. Our current needs focus is on pre- and post-surgical critical care (Surgical Oncology, Acute Care Surgery, Bariatrics), obstetrical & gynecology critical care, cardiology critical care & burn critical care. We welcome established physicians as well as support newer physicians who are looking to develop their skills alongside knowledgeable mentors, advanced practice providers, and resident physicians.

Job Duties

  1. Outstanding clinical skills.
  2. Contribute to teaching/educational activities; research opportunities available if desired.
  3. Offer strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a diverse team.
  4. Schedule: Full-Time - 13 shifts per month, split over daytime and night shifts
  5. Shift duration: 0800-1800 daylight; 1800-0800 overnight
  6. Comprehensive care to critically ill patients in the Medical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at West Penn Hospital. This includes diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with a wide range of acute and life-threatening conditions. The physician will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.
  7. Perform procedures commonly required in the ICU setting, such as central line placement, endotracheal intubation, mechanical ventilation management, and arterial line placement.

Job Qualifications

  1. Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited medical school.
  2. Successful completion of an accredited residency program in [Internal Medicine, Surgery, Anesthesiology, or related field].
  3. Fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine.
  4. Board certification in Critical Care Medicine (or eligibility for certification).
  5. Licensed in the state of Pennsylvania prior to employment.
