Robert Half is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (.NET/WCF) to support an Education Public Sector – Technology Services organization based in Seattle, WA . This role involves backfill and ongoing senior-level support for mission-critical, legacy .NET systems (SAS & SSIRS) that are nearing end-of-life, requiring operational stability while planning for sunsetting and replacement . Job Details:

Schedule: 8am–5pm PST, flexible when needed

Duration: 6-month initial term, possible extension up to 2 years

Location: Remote (local candidates preferred if hybrid is required later)

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide daily operational support for two internally built applications (SAS and SSIRS)
• Implement bug fixes and emergency enhancements with a focus on uptime stability
• Participate in code reviews, documentation updates, and Agile sprint meetings
• Partner with Analysts, DBAs, and business owners to clarify requirements
• Maintain source control (SVN), configure/deploy via TeamCity, and create SSRS reports
• Support annual school year setup, reporting, and related processes
• Contribute to RFP development and SAS sunsetting/migration planning
• Reverse engineer existing code and documentation to understand current system state

Job Requirements:

Must-Haves:

Minimum 7+ years of experience in .NET, WCF, C#, development

• WCF
• C#
• SQL
• Oracle DB

Nice-to-Haves:

• CI/CD pipelines and DevOps exposure
• ETL tools experience
• Public sector or regulated industry background

Soft Skills:

• Strong communicator with excellent documentation skills
• Self-starter comfortable working in complex, undocumented environments
• Comfortable asking questions, verifying assumptions, and navigating change
• Works well under pressure in high-stakes, time-sensitive situations
