CNC Machinist - First Shift

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist for the first shift at a large machine shop in Santa Ana, CA. The ideal candidate will perform setups and operate various CNC mills, lathes, and manual machines in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up CNC lathes, mills, manual machines, and inspection equipment for production jobs efficiently to support a production-paced environment.
• Maintain and update setup procedures for all critical processes.
• Work from blueprints, job routings, and tooling instructions to hold close tolerances.
• Utilize computer skills to transfer programs to various CNC machines.
• Inspect parts to ensure they meet both dimensional and visual requirements.
• Complete all required documentation including part measurements and shop floor paperwork.
• Train and mentor less experienced machinists, particularly on machine setup.
• Operate more than one machine where cycle time permits.
• Perform other duties as required.

Essential Skills

• Experience with CNC Lathe and Mill operations, specifically with Brother, Haas, and Mazak machines.
• Ability to inspect parts using calipers and micrometers.
• Proficiency in setup and operation of CNC machines.
• Capability to run more than one machine efficiently.
• Strong blueprint reading skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in writing or editing machine programs.
• Familiarity with measuring tools.
• Eagerness to learn and grow in the role.
• Ability to perform light setups.

Work Environment

The work environment is a large machine shop with approximately 50 staff members. The company operates across three different buildings dedicated to various production processes. The first shift runs from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, with opportunities to work on multiple shifts.

This is a Permanent position based out of Santa Ana, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $72800.00/yr.
